Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress best known for the films Beta Saajan, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 1980s and came to popularity with her role in Tezaab, a film in which she appeared alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Her next appearance on screen was in Dil along with Aamir. In the beginning, as a child growing up in Mumbai's middle-class, she began to learn how to dance. When she was a teen she started acting, and struggled for years because most of her early films failed. Eventually she became one the most famous actresses in Indian film. Following her marriage she had an absence from the industry before returning to the business. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these, she has won 8. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award awarded to civilians in India was awarded to her. She is also acknowledged for her work in the field of charity.
